that Compleat Vol. 1 release is so mint! St. Louis is still going for silly money and they put 2 versions on the release. If they're doing it for all the eras of BSP theres some cracking stuff due over the next few years
I remember dismissing them after hearing 'No Lucifer' a couple years ago and not knowing what on earth to do with this band, but I gave 'em a second chance recently and it turns out that song is not really that representative of BSP's work.
@lyle_catcliffe I guess people think they were trying to go commercial. But Man Of Aran really showed me how strong North Hanging Rock and True Adventures (maybe my favourite song of theirs? If I didn't have it played at my funeral, that'd be cos I'd have It Comes Back Around instead) are.
I think Atom/ Don't Cry/ Open The Door are the strongest 3 tracks on DYLRM?, maybe people think We Close Our Eyes is too experimental, like they've been hanging around Efrim Menuck too much or something. And apparently the critics hated Once More Now, I just wish it was longer.
On reflection maybe the problem is that they put their best songs on B-sides/ EPs. More people should definitely hear The Pelican, and they need a B-sides/ early rare tracks compilation, because I think I could only find about half the stuff on itunes.
