    • Top Albums of 2010

      20 Jan 2011, 02:00 by helloimjoshua

I had a short ~150 word review/blurb for about half the albums on this list. Unfortunately, my power went out and Microsoft Word didn't auto-recover my document for some odd reason. I'm not motivated enough to write all those again so instead, I wrote a simple list. 2011 albums have been leaking and releasing so I feel like it's reasonable to hurry up and get this list done quickly. I guess I'll have to wait until 2011 for an extensively written end of the year list.

2010 was the first year I tried to listen to a lot of music - I officially moved out of my absolutepunk.net phase in the fall of 2009. However, 2010 was also a tricky year in music because no album truly stuck with me for a long time. Therefore, there is no ranking system in this list. This list is in order of release date. Listing the albums in order of release date helps me remember when i listened to the album and also helps me associate those albums with memories/events around that time.

Top 50 Albums of 2010 (in order of release date):

    • BFMV RAGE!!!

      12 Apr 2009, 03:42 by arrell

The Welsh metalcore band, Bullet for My Valentine, hosted Australian music video show Rage last night. Had first heard their music from playing Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Song was Hand of Blood, pretty neat track. In my metalcore phase a few weeks back, decided to have a listen to their Hand of Blood EP and that too made for nice listening.

I believe it was Matt Tuck and Michael Thomas that hosted the show. Their playlist is as follows:

Metallica - Fade to Black (live)
Metallica - Master of Puppets (live)
      Metallica - Whiplash (live)
      Motörhead - Ace of Spades
Mötley Crüe - Kickstart My Heart
Faith No More - From Out of Nowhere (live)
      Soundgarden - Jesus Christ Pose
Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss
      Megadeth - Holy Wars
      Still Remains - Stay Captive
      Gojira - To Sirius
Trivium - Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr
      Lamb of God - Redneck
      Ozzy Osbourne - Perry Mason
      Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast
Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills
      Mastodon - Divinations

    • AC/DC's Rock N' Roll Whistle Stop: Cleveland!

      4 Mar 2009, 07:47 by sablespecter

      Mon 5 Jan – AC/DC

January proved to be the final month in my nine-month streak of seeing concerts, going all the way back to Gigantour last May (which seems like eons ago). But what a way to end a streak: this was my first-ever AC/DC concert! This was one music honor that D held over me, since she had seen them on multiple occasions before (yet not in over 20 years). We went with JCV and his wife*, and had a helluva time.

Opening act was The Answer, from Belfast. I had not heard of them before that night - didn't even know there was an opening act until we got there - but I've since checked them out and they're pretty good. Actually one of the better (non-package-tour) opening acts I've seen in awhile. Since I didn't really know them, this is the setlist as best as I could capture it:
(I don't know the opening track)
(something from the new album) may have been Why'd You Change Your Mind
      Never Too Late
Guitar solo (is that really needed for an opening band with a setlist this short??)

    • Haahaa, OVERRATED!

      28 Dec 2008, 02:49 by AnnaDraconida

For the record, I never thought that "overrated" meant "total crap". I rate music on a scale of 5 to 0, like this:

      5- fucking awesome
      4-good shit
      3-so so
      2-meh
      1-I'd rather skip it
      0-Womanizer

Most of the names I will list below would get a 3 or a 2 rating from me. They're not total shit, but why the fuck are they so popular??? Some of them are annoying douchebags/bitches to boot, and yet the masses worship these suckers like they're a bunch of fucked-up messengers from *insert random deity here*.
And no, I didn't include Britney Spears because she doesn't qualify as a singer, or a human being, for that matter.

Let's kick it off with this sexy beast: Amy Winehouse.
      http://www.seriouscelebritynewsnetwork.com/admin/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/amy_winehouse_4_wenn1832955.jpg

Why is everyone praising her damn voice??? She sounds like a combination of Macy Gray, Anastacia and Kurt Cobain (who also sang like his mouth was stuffed full of soft cheese) + 10 pounds of crack. …

    • In My Opinion What New Music Is Missing

      13 Dec 2007, 23:50 by Gibson1976

My latest journals weren't really about music as you may see, but this one will be.

I'll be talking about what I !!!!! think about the new music. I have no intention of centering any band or anyone out, go ahead and listen to newer music, I could care less honestly.

To start this off, I really think one thing todays new music is missing is "The Groove" like honestly, hasn't anyone noticed that Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance have the EXACT same drumming. Drumming now is all the same in my opinion, kinda bores the song out. Back in the day, the drumming was the most distinctive part. Like for example, I could tell a Van Halen song any day with Alex's very distinctive sound. While I can't tell the difference between Fall Out Boy and MCR.

The Guitar Work Now Is VERY sloppy in my opinion, no real talent there. Now I'm not saying all sucks, bands like Airbourne are an exception. There all trying to sound like emo bands with the Drop Tuned 6th style tuning. …

    • ENTREVISTA A DOLORES O'RIORDAN

      23 Sep 2007, 17:18 by superdhp

      "Escribir se volvió algo agradable"

La irlandesa sacó su primer CD solista. Antes de su visita a la Argentina, habló de su vieja banda y de qué significa ser madre de cuatro hijos.

"DESPUES DE Cranberries ME TOME CUATRO AÑOS DE RECREO", DICE DOLORES.

    • Why Do people always criticize bands for switching singers??

      15 Sep 2007, 18:10 by Gibson1976

Well I don't understand why people are like "Brian Johnson is SHIT!" "Bon is the man" thats not true. Brian had HUGE shoes to fill, I take my hat off to him, that is a real hard thing to do.

"One rule of thumb while listening to AC/DC its either Bon or it's shit" Not true... sure Bon has a lot of good stuff. But Brian had more succes with them, people who say that must have forgot that Brian was scared to perform any Bon Scott songs live in 1980. Must have forgot that they went on to become one of the BEST rock bands in the history of music :).

Now on Van Halen's case. I can understand a little bit. When Roth left the band back in 1985, Van Halen lost there bare bone sound. They started using way more syntchnizers or however you spell it. Sammys a great singer to, commericially he had more success. But David Lee Roth had more Classic songs that will be rememberd in like 40 years from now. While Sammy doesn't have that.

    • Podłączamy AC/DC

      30 Aug 2007, 21:25 by Misiasia

Grupa AC/DC przerywa wieloletnie milczenie. Na razie fanów czeka jednak nie nowa płyta a podwójne DVD. Wydawnictwo "Plug Me In" ukaże się 15 października.
