James Robert Wills (March 6, 1905 - May 13, 1975) was an American musician, songwriter, and bandleader. He is widely regarded as one of the founders of Western swing and was commonly known as the "King of Western Swing". He was also known for punctuating his performances with his characteristic "ah-haa" calls. Wills formed several bands and performed on radio stations across the Southern and Western United States before forming the Texas Playboys in 1934.
