Mr. Wilson, 'From 44 to 48' is embarassing, what happened, man? Stuff like that should remain hidden in your vault. 'Family Man' is bomb though, but that's Aviv's piece. But production is also important.
Definitely the most upbeat sounding Blackfield till now with a somewhat airy production and different feel throughout. Actually wish it had a bit more of that melancholic atmosphere that they could pull off so well in the past, and Steven Wilson's vocal role is still a tad smaller than I expected and hoped for, although he's definitely back as a main member now. Other than that, my first impressions are mostly positive. Gotta let it sink in for a bit.
I've listened to Blackfield ever since the first album came out, several years before I signed up for Last.fm. I know and appreciate the first 2 albums all too well, they're beautiful. IV is the only BF album I hardly care for, the others are all great, including he new one. My win! :)
