It's 6 a.m. the day after Christmas. The quiet darkness and the smell of cold is so real for this day of the year. Most people are tired from the Christmas holiday activities and they're still sleeping.
For some reason 1997 (and bits of 98) was an outstanding year for music. It may have been Pop/Rock/Top 40's last real grown up music for young people year. There were beautifully written songs like this one (along with Closing Time, Bittersweet Symphony, Freshmen, Iris) that tackled your feelings along with its mature theme and others that were party songs (Walking On The Sun, Fly, Semi-Charmed Life, Sex and Candy), not in any particular order but music then was really good and really missed.
When I was in 8th grade I remember sneaking, staying up all night and roaming around the neighborhood. My friends and I went to Burger King at 6am for breakfast, and this song came on. We had a sing along in the BK at 6am, anytime I hear this song it reminds me on those times. Classic 90's stuff.
