Returning to this album after some years and enjoying it much more this time around. I have to be honest and say that this, Dear Catastrophe Waitress, and Write About Love just aren't up to the same standard as their earlier efforts, but they are still enjoyable in their own right. 'Act of the Apostle' and 'Dress Up in You' are glorious, but there are a couple of irritating songs, at least to me. I can't stand 'The Blues Are Still Blue'.
I always kinda liked B&S stuff, but none of their other albums ever made much of an impression. This one is nearly solid gold all the way through. Nearly a perfect indie pop record and one of my top 10 albums of the 2000s.
Have you seen the fan questions inside the CD booklet? Jesus, some of the questions are very good but others are really stupid or downright insulting. Aren't people embarrassed of asking such pointless shit to their favourite band? Such a waste of time and energy...
Checking in a year later! Yeah, this is still my least favorite. To me it sounds more like a very good impression of B&S by a tribute band than the real deal. Dress Up in You is the only song that gives me the familiar inner joy that most great B&S songs do. The new album is much better.
Been rediscovering B&S lately. It's weird... this used to be my least favourite of their albums. I was really disappointed with it when it came out. Now, listening to it again, it's become one of my absolute favourite albums, full stop. Go figure.
I met them with this record, i was bored on mixup one day and i thought: let's buy the first cd i see, and i bumped into this one. I don't regret it, I absolutely love it, even if it's not their best release.
