Begravement is a death metal band from the Twin Cities, Minnesota. They were initially formed as Operation: Obliteration in May of 2018 before changing their name later that year. Founding members Ezra Blumenfeld, and Owen Hiber released the two-track demo: “…to the Grave” in August of 2019, with each member playing bass for 1 song, and Hiber taking on drum duties. In 2020, Begravement’s lineup would become more cohesive and consistent, with bassist Matt Schrampfer joining them in January of that year. When the initial lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic hit America, and Begravement was gearing up to record a brand new EP, each member decided to track their parts in the confines of their own house, and said tracks would be sent to Vocalist/Guitarist Ezra Blumenfeld, who would handle the mixing. Their debut EP, Conjuring the Necromancer, was released on January 29, 2021 with Guitarist Owen Hiber still taking on drum duties. After a couple canceled show dates due to COVID-19, and a year or so of waiting, Begravement finally played their first show on August 7th, 2021 at Zymurgy Brewing Company in Menomonie, WI. Their first 4 live shows were played with local drummer Tom Tier (Idle Death, Annihilation Process), and after years of looking for a full-time drummer, Begravement was able to find their perfect fit in drummer prodigy Grady Westling, who would make his live debut for Begravement in October of 2021. With some new material written, and a full 4-man lineup, Begravement decided to record a brand new 3-song demo, which was simply titled “The Anaphylaxis Demo”. This was recorded at the very end of 2021 and released on January 7th, 2022. By the summer of 2022, Begravement had established themselves in the local scene with their live shows, and had enough material written for an entire full-length album, and they began the recording process for said full length at Minneapolis’ 1459 Studios in September of 2022, which was completed in early December of 2022. The full length is roughly estimated to release in the summer of 2023.
