Beatabet is a Music and Arts collective, consisting of Artists from every field. We aim to provide an immediate and direct interface between the Artists and their audience…
Formed in 2002, Beatabet evolved out of a series of experimental audio-visual events around the UK. Beatabet is now a committee-run collective of creative individuals from all disciplines who provide a network of skills, resources and opportunities for each other. It exists to forge links between sectors of the artistic community and to use these links to set up events and schemes which encourage collaboration between artists from a wide range of practices.
Beatabet is a not-for-profit collective that pools the resources of its individual participants, as well as their expertise and verve, in order to offer wide-ranging artistic opportunities that might not otherwise be possible or affordable for them.
Amongst other things, Beatabet runs summer creative residencies at the Beatafarm, a secluded country house and outbuildings in the Auvergne, France.
We aim to provide an alternative to the traditional template of art practice as competitive by necessity. Our ethos is that the process of creativity is destabilised by competition yet it is fuelled by collaboration. The Arts world has become too competitive; each individual Artist (by this we mean of all practices) find themselves battling against everyone else, just as the powers above them (record labels, galleries, publishing houses etc) battle in the commercial markets for success.
