1 Feb 2007, 06:50 by Le_THieNWelcome, ladies and gentlemen, to 2007’s first installment of last year’s wildly successful and internationally-acclaimed Upcoming Attractions series. It’s the same song and dance this year with a stacked palette of (arguably) more anticipated releases for the pending months: in the coming weeks, I’ll occasionally update my Last.FM journal with new additions and announcements for upcoming records of the year, with a bit of commentary thrown in for even measure.
As much as I love to relay to you all every single nuance of thought and emotion behind every record that I mention, I’m mercifully jettisoning that aspect of this format in order to opt for a more streamlined function. Simply put, it’s just not pragmatic to think that you all give a Texas shit about what I think 100% of the time, and I just can’t be bothered to sit at the computer for that long. *smile*
Anyway, here’s my first entry of 2007, with a Norah Jones review following up very soon in the next couple of days. I hope this is helpful!
11 Dec 2006, 01:12 by mediathinkNot a big fan of genres in general but I seem to love Chamber pop. Archer Prewitt,Jeremy Engik, and The Left Banke. Of course The Beatles who probably started it all (yawn) -- sure I've read up on it at All Music but is Cardinal all they are cracked up to be? Is Casanova worth the effort?
Would love some opinions and specific songs to check out.

2 Nov 2006, 20:50 by HumlepungI decided that I was listening to too much music from the past and my past, so for the last three weeks i have mostly listen to new bands and artist, and been using LAST FM & Pandora as the guiding light..and WOW!!! Suddenly my new favourite are names like Archer Prewitt, Fruit Bats, The Mendoza Line and Great Lake Swimmers. Artists I would have big problems reading or hearing about here in Norway.
I was thinking for a long time that there was not much new music worth listening to, but now I think it will be a long time before I will play the old favourite again. I just don't have the time. Too busy dicovering new acts :o)
My Favourite top five at the moment:
1. Archer Prewitt "Wilderness"
2. Fruit Bats "Slipping Through the Sensors"
3. Great Lake Swimmers "I Could Be Nothing"
4. The Mendoza Line "Fellow Travelers"
5. The Decemberists "My Mother Was a Chinese Trapeze Artist"
21 Oct 2006, 18:24 by HumlepungI have had the pleasure of listening to Pandora, a great place to discover new music. And by luck, I stumbled into some great new bands and artists:
01. Josh Rouse "It's The Nighttime" from the album "Nashville" (2005)
What a great song. He manage to make quite happy music without making a fool of himself, diffucult in many ways. this song make me wanna go down to the local pub right away. not to drink my sorrows away, but just having a ball!
02. Archer Prewitt "Wilderness" from the album "Wilderness" (2005)
The guitarist for The Sea and Cake and formerly of The Coctails is indeed doing great by his own. This song has gone on hot repeat for a week, and the haunting, a bit psychedelic tune creeps into your brain for good, and that is just good for the brain, I can assure :o)
03. Matthew Brookshire "Better" from "8 Songs" (2006)
A complete unknown artist for me till now, but I will really want to check out more bout this talented singer /songwriter. …
