Tbilisi, Georgia (1903 – 1978)
Aram Ilich Khachaturian (1903-1978) was born to a poor Armenian familiy in Imperial Russia. He had next to no musical education, but such great talent that he was discovered and trained by Mikhail Gnessin at the Gnessin Institute. In 1929 he was accepted into the Moscow Conservatory where he met his future wife, Nina Makarova.
