Unlike most mainstream bands of the time, AcidFace prides themselves on being heavy and unique without taking themselves too seriously or selling out their sound. Their song topics range wildly from alien invasions to hallucinations of talking fruit, songs about pirates, and songs about nuclear war. Any attempt to classify AcidFace into any single genre is impossible.
AcidFace was started as a joke by friends Lord Plon (Ryan Kearney), Skulldriver (Joe Danielewicz), and Loxx (Tim Schade). Their first songs were crude versions of "Fuck You" and "Oh Shit," as well as the long-forgotten songs "Predator Shock" and "Winds of Death."
They enlisted drummer Dane Jurris (Doug Schmidt) and guitarist Mr. Shean (Eric Shean) to play their material live. Tim and Ryan had played with the two previously in a band called Synthetyk. At this time they drew heavily from influences such as Type O Negative, The Misfits, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Gwar. After about a year of recordings and a few shows at Club Laga and other local venues, creative differences and arguments about rehearsal space rent money tore AcidFace apart, and it was uncertain that the band would ever decide to play again.
It was during an unusually drunken party at Joe's house (while watching live tape of old AcidFace shows) that Ryan approached his Brother K-Bone (Kevin Kearney) about the drummer position in AcidFace. Much to everyones surprise Kevin agreed readily. Following his hiring, AcidFace friends Rusty Trombone (Jake Webber) and JeSus (Jamie Criss) came forth proclaming that they would fill the void left in AcidFace.
AcidFace is writing and recording like never before. The five members also met up with Maximus the Destroyer (George Dietz), who serves as AcidFace's mascot. He sings back-up and distributes pain, torture, and fruit to the audience. Tim has since re-joined Acidface as bassist in place of Jamie, who is now a member of the bands Tryx and Chucksreich where he plays guitar.
