Biography

  • Born

    18 June 1979 (age 45)

From the page to the stage, Aaron Karo's insights into the twentysomething mind have secured his place as the irreverent voice of a generation.

In 1997, as a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania, Karo sent a funny email to twenty of his buddies from high school. That email spawned a regular "email column" entitled Ruminations that earned him a worldwide following over the next decade.

After a brief detour on Wall Street, Karo began performing stand-up in 2002. Thanks to his amazing fans, he now headlines sold out shows at theaters across the country. Simon & Schuster has also published compilations of his column in two bestselling books, "Ruminations on College Life" and "Ruminations on Twentysomething Life."

2008 was a banner year for Karo. In May, he completed his North American tour with a sold out performance at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square. In August, he launched Ruminations.com, a user-generated humor site that enables his fans to write and share their own observations for the first time. Later that month, Karo performed on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS. And in December, Comedy Central Records released "Just Go Talk to Her" – his highly anticipated stand-up album recorded at the famed Comedy Connection in Boston.

More than twelve years after he began, Karo continues to write his Ruminations column and it has now been read by hundreds of thousands of people around the world. On September 15th, 2009, HarperCollins published his third book, "I'm Having More Fun Than You." Karo currently lives in Los Angeles but misses New York.
