AWOL or A World of Lies was formed in Early 2011 in Burnsville, North Carolina by founding members David Brown on Vocals, Brandon Silvers on Guitars, Ryan Sullivan on Drums and Anthony "Ryne" Anglin on the Bass under the name Burning Onward. In early 2012 the vocalist and founding member David Brown was sent to prison and Instead of the band calling it quits the band wrote a bunch of new songs and continued on playing shows with the drummer Ryan Sullivan doing the live vocals. The band changed the name to Awol in mid 2012 and started searching for a new permanent vocalist to fill the void left by the previous vocalist. The search for a new vocalist fell short so in late 2013 the band (looking for a fuller sound) moved there bassist Anthony "Ryne" Anglin to second guitar and picked up a new bassist named Nathan Hiles. The band now a four piece and not being able to find a new vocalist, continued to play shows and write new music with drummer Ryan Sullivan filling in on the vocal spot. In late 2015 the band finally found what they where looking for in a new vocalist in Sean Campbell. The band now a five piece started writing new songs for a up coming ep and hit the local scene hard playing lots of shows in a short period of time, playing some of the biggest shows the local Asheville metal scene had ever seen. In late 2016 the band started recording a four song ep at Giraffe Studios in Asheville, North Carolina. During day two of the recording process guitarist Anthony "Ryne" Anglin left the band. The band while being a man down in the studio continued on with the recording process and finished the ep. The band started searching for a new guitarist and In early 2017 Nathan Hiles left the band on bass and the band picked up Ryan Ryall to fill his spot, Shalika "Dillon" Pendland joined the band a few weeks later filling in the second guitar spot. The band was once again a full five piece and released there first ep and played a bunch of local area shows and went on the bands first official tour. The band took a break from playing shows in mid 2017 to write new material and not long after guitarist AWOL or A World of Lies was formed in Early 2011 in Burnsville, North Carolina by founding members David Brown on Vocals, Brandon Silvers on Guitars, Ryan Sullivan on Drums and Anthony "Ryne" Anglin on the Bass under the name Burning Onward.
