“A Tergo Lupi” is the second part of a Latin saying, which in full reads: “A fronte praecipitium, a tergo lupi”: in front of you, the precipice; behind you, the wolves.
Our project fits within the veins of Dark Folk. Permeated by dark and nostalgic atmospheres, it is characterized by the fusion of somber synth architectures and chorals with the raw voices of ancient instruments, by the ritual call of heavy rhythms to the embrace of sound.
Strongly inspired by the sounds and traditions of European folk and neofolk, it is nourished by roots that delve into different terrains. Each of us has traveled through different musical paths, and we met on the surface, combining our distant experiences to give life to a project with two souls.
A recurring element in our work is the use of the tagelharpa, shamanic drum and small percussion instruments, wood, bones and metal.
We firmly believe that these instruments with ancient souls can reach and speak to that primordial part we have buried in the depths of our being, covered by new veils and heavy stones of extreme composure. We belong to our time and use synthesized sounds, choirs, electronics, and any other expression that allows us to create structures on which our voices can speak and express themselves best in the present.
An essential part of our project is the videos we create to accompany our music, through which we seek to complete and deepen the meaning of our songs by putting every possible effort into showcasing the places and works, whether natural or created by past and present peoples and individuals, that we involve in our work.
Our music arises from restlessness and the need to translate it, to transform it along a not painless process. It arises from the darkness of our anguish and the indispensable search for light, from gazing into our abyss and from our heart.
It is our catharsis and our greatest sincerity.
For this reason, we are deeply and infinitely grateful for the most precious gift: the presence, the listening of those who understand and make our voice their own, so that it is not lost in the wind.
A Tergo Lupi are:
Fabio Del Carro: Main vocals and choirs, drums and percussion, other.
Camilla Margherita Ferrari: Tagelharpa, main vocals and choirs, percussion, other.
We are Italians, we come from the gray and foggy land in Northern Italy, which we love so much.

The footprint of Rot marks the crucial first step on the new journey; A Tergo Lupi is born.
After more short instrumentals, we write and record the first structured and sung tracks, also in collaboration with Luca Villa on bouzouki, guitar, and vocals, contributing to the composition and recording of 7 tracks.
The first single with a music video “(Back) to the roots” is released.
2019:
Following the singles and music videos for “Break the breath” and “Cozu,” “March of the stones” celebrates the release of the first album “Out of the Fence”, a raw and heterogeneous collection of the experimentation from the first two years of activity.
2020:
The Coronavirus pandemic, isolation, and lockdown significantly impact our plans for the new year and separate us. In the difficulty that this period presents for everyone, it grants us the precious opportunity to work on our music in a more introspective, deep, and sincere way. One of the most important singles of our career is released, marking the beginning of a musical self-examination process towards a more authentic and personal path: “Red Sun”.

We are infinitely grateful for the kind words and reviews dedicated to it.
