I think the enka singer should use the ｶﾚﾝ, as the Visual band used カレン before she did and most of the scrobbles for the Visual band are on カレン (as opposed to ｶﾚﾝ). Btw I like the picture with Kisaki--it's fitting.
Fair enough. Thank you. How do I think last.fm is going to separate same named artists, you ask ? It's very simple. last.fm's database is capable of recognizing albuns, date of release, labels, etc. If I play a song called "x" by the VK band called カレン there's a high probability that the enka singer with the same name won't have a song with the same title, so, "x" goes for the VK one and "y" for the enka singer, because, once again, probably, the VK band won't have a song called "y". And if they happen to have a song called "y" too things should be tagged differently because the song "y" by the VK band is from an album called "w" and the one from the enka singer is from an album called "z" and so on. It's just a matter of association. And I won't ask anyone to vote for anything. people are free to choose for another tag or this one, because most of them don't care for shared artists pages. For the ones who do there is the half-width katakana one.
Enka, pop, it is all the same shit to me and I bet many other VK fans think the same. So, yeah, sharing a page with another artist is a problem because we care for our charts being messed up and I don't like seeing a picture of that bitch in my library. If last.fm is shitty enough not to distinguish the artists who share the same name the only option is to create another page. I just don't get why you or whoever did it edited the wiki page again when I just put a link to the [artist]ｶﾚﾝ[/artist] page. I'm not saying it is correct. It is just an option for those who don't like shared artist pages like me. What's up next ? Flagging it as incorrect / abuse / innapropiate and merging the pages ? It's an alternative. I'm not forcing anyone to use it. And you should do the same and let people choose which tag to use.
Since this page has been overtaken by this pop crap and visual kei lovers always have to find out a way to re-tag their music and for those who don't like seeing shared artist pages I've created another page for them in half-width katakana, so, please, use [artist] ｶﾚﾝ [/artist] for the Visual Kei band.
As the enka artist is now more popular in the charts over the last six months I've switched the order in accordance with last.fm's wiki rules. Taken from the [url=http://www.last.fm/help/faq]FAQ[/url]: Wikis>There's more than one artist with the same name. How should the wiki page be done? "Artists are to be listed in the order of their popularity. To determine the popularity order, you are to use the Overall charts for that artist."
People who listen to Visual Kei always have to find a way to tag their music with senseless shit because the ones who listen to other genres of music can never find an other way to avoid shared artist pages and accept sugestions, so yes, it IS unfair.
I'll repeat: the Visual Kei band was formed way before that woman had a carrer, so, they deserve this page. If that woman had a career before the VK band we would have to find out another tag, but the band was formed before that woman started singing professionally under this name. It would be unfair changing the tag for the singer if she came first, such as it is unfair to it with the band. This discussion might take forever and even if I was a big fan of that woman I would hate to see it in the same page of other artists. I sugest tagging her songs under her real name, instead of the artistic one since there's already another band using it.
Why should someone use the incorrect tag for an artist just because you're upset that multiple artists are sharing a page and the current image isn't of the artist you listen to? It's really not a big deal, so learn to deal with it. Judging by the weekly chart she could soon be the most popular of the two over the last six months, so then she'll be the first artist listed in the wiki too (I reverted it back to how it should be btw). ;) Anyhoo, I'm really liking the enka singer. The best newcomer I've heard from 2009 imo, assuming the '07 indies single doesn't count.
@LianaiGeming21: That's why we use unicode for VK bands that share the same names with other artists. Now do as LilShawtyGurl said and use unicode for tagging that woman's music and stop voting for her pictures in this page.
Indeed.Use Ｋａｒｅｎ, カレン (Victor Entertainment), カレン (Enka shit) or whatever. This page does not deserves that dirty pop tag plus the Visual Kei band was formed way before that woman had a carrer, so, they deserve this page.
