Mai Fukui (ふくい舞, previously 福井舞, born December 17, 1984) is a singer from Kyoto, Japan. Her interest in music began when she was in middle school, when her brother introduced her to the band Hanson, which inspired her to learn to play drums. In college she joined a music club and took up singing. She also began to write music during this time. Eventually she dropped out of college to pursue a career in music, and joined the Kyoto-based band POPLAR as the vocalist in 2004.
