Both my legs are aching
And my hands are hanging numb at my waist.
As I step out from my work to walk home.
And it's dark outside
Four in the morning I'm tired, worn out
My physical state reflects my feelings
'Cos inside I'm feeling drained and dry.
Somewhere in me I see a glimmer of hope
So I push through the pain and reach out
Grabbing hold of the hem of your garment (Mt 9,12)
It's heart felt as I cry out to you
I feel my throat drying up.
Seeming to be an echo of the soul that's past.
Many cars drive up and down this road in the day,
But at this time of night
There is not another person to be seen around.
The silence seems my own thoughts seem louder.
The weight of my mind tells.
As I hear footsteps drag along the ground.
The sound of my feet on the concrete
Has suddenly to compete
With drops of water appearing here and there.
As the cloud vents it's passion and lets the rain fall
I'm refreshed in my body
And my spirit reaches out in prayer.
Thank you for the rain
Fall down.
As the rain comes
Splashes down on my face
The pace of my footsteps increase
And the water seems to give me a boost.
It's strange, but my arms feel lighter
My legs quicken up.
A smile comes to my face
And I seem to be less confused.
I'm bruised inside by life
But as the drops run down off my shoulders
Then I feel a little of the weight get less.
My prayers turn to tears to joy.
As I feel my dad in heaven send his spirit
To bring me his peace and to bless.
The rain it refreshes my head
And the rain that refreshes my soul
Both come from above.
And both they come straight from you.
The cares of this world just pale away
When compared to your love
There is nothing in this world
That can compete with your truth.
Whenever I'am at a loss
And wherever I find the cost to much
And I'm at a stage when I can't stand much more of this pain
I just reach out to you
And I know that your love is so close.
So pour down on me.
I thank you for the rain.
Thank you for the rain
Fall down.
Thank you, 'cos you're the only one who took my hurt
And the only one who gave me release.
You made me, you gave me.
Everything I hold of value in this world.
I only ever want to follow you in your footsteps.
Transform me into holiness
And give me the strength of faithfulness
