Ensemble Suono Giallo came into being in Città di Castello as a part of the 2015 festivities in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the painter Alberto Burri.
The aim of the project is evident from the very name of the ensemble, that is, a synesthetic Kandinskian journey, a synthesis of the arts, or rather, of a holistic work of art such as Wagner tried to bring to fruition at Bayreuth.
It is from this premise that the group proposes to divulge and promote contemporary music through new commissions, concerts, and insightful initiatives.
Andrea Biagini, flutes
Fabio Battistelli, clarinets
Michele Bianchini, saxophones
Laura Mancini, percussions
Simone Nocchi, piano
This project takes as its point of departure, the corresponding ideals between music and painting employed to pay homage to Alberto Burri on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
The ten composers involved in the project conceived their contributions either directly or indirectly with the poetics of Alberto Burri, poetics characterized by the continuous antagonism between Apollonian form and Dionysian disorder. Gesture to shape, flow to form, material means and procedural strategies are also categories that are central to musical reflection, throughout its history, and in particular, in the second half of the 20th century.
It is an homage without words to one of the most essential and rigorous artists of our age.
