Feb 19 2011, 13:01 di otromismoThis is probably not news to most of you but for the rest I urge you to allow a certain rapper to take you on a flight that is high in multiple senses. This pilot of course is Curren$y a.k.a. Hot Spitta, a New Orleans smooth operator who along with Ski Beatz as the main man among many producers, puffs a suave sound brimming with smoke laced jazz into the room.
While some of the tracks themselves fizzle out, the theme of laid back langour gives the album its due cool. That along with conspicuous and nicely consistent references to marijuana. Spitta happily joins the crowd when he ‘s “wearing a bow tie till the day I die”(Michael Knight), playing along with the hype game that we all know and what everybody grows. Where Spitta outstands himself is when he lets rap and wordplay go at it in his head. He speaks his mind without really having to pronounce things when he gets so “high as to autograph the sky”(Famous) or when he makes us watch as he’s “scribbling fire on a streetcar named desire”(Famous)…

1. Kno - Death Is Silent
Fav. track: "Not At The End" (feat. Tunji)
About 200 scrobbles in the first week…. Just couldn't stop listening. Although the album’s darker and more depressive than any CunninLynguists album, Kno still continued to give the people the type of sound they love and know from the CunninLynguists. Fabulous sample handling, songs that paint pictures and deliver a great atmosphere.
Certainly, to be honest: Although Kno showed that he still can rap like in the times of “We Will Rap For Food”, I prefer Deacon and Natti on the mic. With that being said: I’m looking forward to 2011’s “Oneirology”, which is – I’m pretty sure – going to be the album of the new year. Kno just never disappoints!
2. Boho Fau & Elevated Soul – Coffee House Swingers
Fav. track: “Vibin’“
Insider’s tip of the year! Let me introduce: Boho Fau is a relaxed guy who has a fetish for bookworms. A guy, who is sitting all day long in “Café Au Lait” drinking tea and reading books. …

Big Boi sir lucious left foot - This is the best rap CD since Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2. There are so many good tracks on this it's hard to find rap CDs as solid as this.
The Black Keys brothers - I got to this band late, only after Blakroc, but I enjoy this CD. "Tighten Up" is where it's at:
Black Milk album of the year - The drums and production on this are pretty unique. I can definitely hear that Detroit influence à la J Dilla and I keep thinking this is a Stones Throw production, which is quite a compliment. …
