SO I reviewed the new Classics of Love album. The front man being Jesse Michaels of Common rider and Op Ivy. Enjoy my review, and check his new band out.
Me and my friends just always sing 'carry on' and 'classics of love' all the time. im so glad i showed them those two songs. just walking down the street at 11:00 pm, smoking cigarettes, singing common rider. fucking love it, eh?
I think that's the general response most people have. I don't even have either of the full albums, but I really need to get them. I have like 8 songs off of LWR, but only Blackbirds vs. Crows off of TIUM. I need more of this.
Oh sure, they're not Op Ivy, but really, who can cap that energy?
Still, I can't believe these guy's have managed to avoid me all these years, they sound great, and they're as close to Ivy as I've ever heard.
Common Rider, so very very underrated you are. I wish they would have released more material, but hey, it's not like they're dead. Are you reading this Jesse? Release some more music, you're one of the few who does ska vocals *right*. :)
Common Rider doesn't have an album called Rethinking the Weather. It's a Daedelus album and has a completely different tracklist. The song I caught on the last.fm radio was Toss Around by Common Rider and it was listed under the non-existing Common Rider - Rethinking.. album. I wonder whoever caused this nonsense :).
