• Upcoming Attractions 2007: Vol. 1

    Feb 1 2007, 6:50 di Le_THieN

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to 2007’s first installment of last year’s wildly successful and internationally-acclaimed Upcoming Attractions series. It’s the same song and dance this year with a stacked palette of (arguably) more anticipated releases for the pending months: in the coming weeks, I’ll occasionally update my Last.FM journal with new additions and announcements for upcoming records of the year, with a bit of commentary thrown in for even measure.

As much as I love to relay to you all every single nuance of thought and emotion behind every record that I mention, I’m mercifully jettisoning that aspect of this format in order to opt for a more streamlined function. Simply put, it’s just not pragmatic to think that you all give a Texas shit about what I think 100% of the time, and I just can’t be bothered to sit at the computer for that long. *smile*

Anyway, here’s my first entry of 2007, with a Norah Jones review following up very soon in the next couple of days. I hope this is helpful!

  • 2007 Outlook

At the beginning of 2006, I had a very small list of albums I was anticipating. At the end of 2006, almost all the albums I liked the most were albums that were never on my list, much less by artists I had heard of before I picked up one of their albums. 2007 seems like it will be an entirely different animal. There are a ton of albums I’m actually looking forward to, rather than just anticipating. I don’t like to use the phrase “promises to be” but with the amount of albums I’m looking forward to along with the artists that are releasing these albums, 2007 promises to be a great year for music - at least, if you’re me.

    2007 Outlook

    New Projects

Ghostface & MF DOOM - Swift & Changeable (February)
There is at least one track from the album floating around the net that I finally downloaded last week; its tagged as both Angels and Angeles, not that is important or anything because the song is terrific and I’m sure the album will follow suit. …

  • Fanta-who?

    Dic 1 2006, 17:22 di clemens1986

How do I start this... um well, I hate casting-shows! There you have it. To me it's just some kind of boot camp for wannabe semi-celebs.

Therefore I was pretty surprised when I saw this video on YouTube and scrolled down to the comments to find out that this 'Fanatsia' played some part in American Idol.
I was not so much surprised by her voice (I know several singers with similar ones) but by the song itself, which sounds like a DJ Premier cut (well almost). Well, I like it & Big Boi is on fire.
P.s.: Some of the comments were smth like 'Starting not to like her', which basically explains it...

This list was too hard to compile, and many great songs were left off. I guess it depends on what classic albums or songs you've heard lately that would make you put them in such a list. But I used personal preference for the most part, although we all would want to be politically correct sometimes, well, maybe just correct. Which had be editing my list twice then going back and editing again continuously. My fave song even taken from number one to number 6, but here's the best list I could possibly make for now. Tried to limit an artists's songs being on here no more than four times, and tried to limit newer songs that have come out recently.

    1. Eric B. & Rakim--Paid In Full
    2. Notorious BIG--Juicy
    3. A Tribe Called Quest--Electric Relaxation
    4. Bone Thugs N Harmony--The Cross Roads
    5. Common--I Used To Love HER
    6. Jay-Z and Notorious BIG--Brooklyn's Finest
    7. Jay-Z--Dead Presidents
    8. Fugees--Killing Me Softly
    9. Jay-Z--Hard Knock Life

Step 1: Open up whatever MP3 program you use and add every song in your collection.
Step 2: Put it on random.
Step 3: Post the first line from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 4: Post and let everyone guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 5: Bold the songs that someone guesses correctly.
Step 6: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

1 - Tha sistas are in so check the front line
2 - I be on it all night, man I be on it (day day)
3 - Breathe in breathe out
4 - Write down,to remind yourself on how it can be
5 - Leave me alone, it's nothing serious

12 - When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me
13 - Why try? I'm that guy Holden Caulfield from "Catcher In The Rye"

  • How Mainstream Am I?

    Apr 21 2006, 14:04 di illya23b

Sure, why not. Here are my last.fm (recent) top artists.

Arbitrary instructions: Find the number of listeners for each of your top 10 artists and add them up and divide by 10 to get the average.

    1. Jay-Z: 90,314. A talented rapper who's worked with all sorts of beats, delivered all sorts of flows, never writes down his lyrics, and can be clever when he chooses.
    2. Pernice Brothers: 7,711. A disarmingly-catchy, sincere, and melodic pop band from outside Boston. They have several albums and a devoted following.
    3. Lil' Wayne: 11,533. Started rapping at an early age, and recently delivered the breakout Tha Carter II, which is clever, agile, and emotional, with good production. Also doesn't write his lyrics anymore, is worth watching.
    4. Big Boi: 12,025. One half of Outkast, Big Boi is a fun rapper but more importantly an interesting producer. Good pop hip-hop.
    5. Kanye West: 114,569. An occasionally brilliant producer, saves some of his best stuff for his own records. …
