    1. Modest Mouse
this will be difficult. i don't dig their new sound that much, their old stuff was so raw and unbelievable. it's just like the last two albums are trying to appeal to the majority rather than people with some actual music taste.

    2. The Slackers
your guys are not good at doing dub.

    2. The Magnetic Fields
shit. i can't think of anything. they are very experimental at it is and they could take it up a few notches just for kicks.

    4. The Planet Smashers
    i don't like ska anymore.

    5. Andrew Bird
i cannot say anything bad about andrew bird, sorry.

    6. 12 Cents For Marvin
haha i'm actually not allowed to say anything bad about them (love you guys). but the farther away from ska you guys get, the better you are.

    7.Vampire Weekend
oh it's so uncool to like them now since they're so famous. haha, i'm kidding. but seriously... it's bull shit how i saw them at the bluebird for free with like thirty people. and now they're on snl and i can't go see them in april now. fuck you mark.

  • Reel Old Times and Big Fish

Tue 15 Jan – Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto

I have not scrobbled a single Reel Big Fish track since I joined last.fm. In fact, I have definitly not played a single Reel Big Fish track in the past five years (following storage of the majority of my cd collection), and probably not more than twice in the past eight years.

Yet, if last.fm was around in 1996, Reel Big Fish might still make my overall artists chart. Although I always prefered Arizona locals like Warsaw Poland Bros. and, uh... the names of the others slip my mind... my brief phase started with Reel Big Fish.

I saw Reel Big Fish for the first time circa 1995-1996 at the Nile in Mesa, Arizona. I picked up Turn the Radio Off without hesitation the next time I was at Zia (remeber the time we bought albums at cool little independent music stores). I saw them a second time in Tempe not long after. Now, more than a decade later, I couldn't help myself when I saw that they were still around and playing in Paris.

What can I say, it was a great concert altogether! The opening acts were a two bands, The Warsaw Poland Brothers and Pennylane. The Warsaw Poland Brothers were very energetic, like a ska/rock/punk fusion band! With one drummer, one guitarist, one bassist, and one piano/trumpet person. I was really surprised, really enjoyable.

Next up was Pennylane! A local band that supposedly broke up, but reformed to play at the Mae concert and are back together definitely(?). Played a half hour set, totally blown away, they just as good as Surfest last year when they were the winners of the Battle Of The Bands and got to open the show. Played a half hour set and nearly tore the place wide open! Check out their album when you get the chance (From Paradis To Parking Lots). But it isn't the same unless you see them live!

Finally, the moment we have been waiting for, MAE! With the haunting piano line being looped over and over from the Introduction to "The Everglow", the band came out one by one. …

I'm an elitist music asshole. So I thought it was appropriate to get one of these.

Well, let's do some 'High Fidelity' esque specifics.

Last Album bought: ummm...bought? Probably Project Infinity. Kinda disappointed? Last album downloaded was Reinventing Axl Rose

Last Show Attended: Besides a few local shows, Warsaw Poland Bros.

    That's about it.

Oh yeah, I guess you could say I like "punk", ska, and anything weird as hell and rockin'.
