I saw him a few years ago and it was an awesome one man show. He played the trap set while also mixing things from his laptop.
I love his new album but revisiting NBTTN again today I still have to say that is his best work. I love everything he's done so far tho for sure.
Detroit part one and miss U are 2 of my all time favorite songs. I feel like Detroit part 2 is great and I appreciate him collaborating with others and diversifying his sound, but still NBTTN is more definitive of HIS sound rather than new influences, and it's incredible.
Interesting, sounds quite different from when I saw him. Before he came out, this full drum setup was on stage next to the table with laptop, MPCs, and whatnot. Dude would start a loop on the electronics and then hop onto the drums and make massive percussion sounds live over the electronic stuff, was really cool to witness.
No and I still regret it, he was in Mannheim, Germany around the time he released NBTTN. But I didn't want go alone to the show, my friends are not in this kind of music, still I should have gone. I watched lots of his live sets on youtube, just great, especially "Evenings - Babe (Shigeto Remix) Live". I agree his live sets will be different for sure, I am pretty sure that he already announced a tour on Ghostly. You have to check out "Sound Motives Shigeto" great interview where he also talks about his techno influence and so on.
Ah man, that was probably a great show! I saw him in 2011 so it was such a surprise to see how much he'd grown, musically, since his debut. Don't skip it next time, even if you go alone - you'll make friends at the show! Also, thanks for the recommendation, I'm looking for that interview right now.
More or less the exact same method, style, and delivery as his last albums, still satisfying and lush regardless. I've always seen this dude as someone who refines a craft rather than one who reinvents himself and innovates with each record (like, say, FlyLo)
heeey, I'm surprised that Field Trip isn't even top15. Anyway, just got my hands on the latest LP, a good one definitely, probably more closer to Full Circle in terms of sound. Some cool melodies here and there, lots of bass and the most important - meticulous attention to details, damn, some of the textures are delicious
