Known for his energetic style, his virtuosity, his deep musical sense, and his ability to captivate his audience, guitarist Jean-François Desrosby shares his talent on stages all over the world. His first two solo albums were received with enthusiasm and have been the subject of several positive reviews.
His artistic approach is directly influenced by his close relationship with nature. Being an outdoor enthusiast, several of his musical ideas flow directly from his observation of natural forces and the events surrounding them; hence, the strong contrast of his instrument playing. As proof of his passion, and with his experience in the wild, he even agreed to volunteer as a Search and Rescue coordinator for his region to help locate persons missing in the backcountry.
Following a hand injury that forced him to rethink his technique from the beginning, and while in the midst of his busy concert career, he began research in the fields of biomechanics and psychology performance, which led to him obtain a doctorate on the subject and write the book, Classical Guitarists: Unlock Your Potential! He also launched the blog, BrainyGuitarist.com. A lecturer at the University of Sherbrooke, he is a sought-after teacher and is regularly invited to give master classes and lectures for universities, conservatories, and other prestigious organizations, such as the Guitar Foundation of America. This positioned him as a new player in the modernization of guitar pedagogy.
