One don't believe that Saddam Hussein
Ever will cooperate with us
Two we must know where his weapons are
Something he refuses to discuss
Three if we rid the world of his evil regime it's a plus
It is leaving him in power which in truth is inhumane
If there was no war there'd still be
Death, poverty, poor services
Men incarcerated for no crime
Malnutrition, rooting, execution
Poor conditions, these must stop
And as we've got a reason now's the time
Because morally these things we can't ignore
We must act and that means go to war
(Not for oil?) Not for oil
(Not for power?) Not for power
(Cause you're Bush's puppet now?) Not a bit of it, I vow
(Want to bet?) Don't forget, we're under threat
(I haven't yet) It's an evil ideology from which we need security
And if in fighting it we see our apogee vs liberty
We've done the right thing morally
There will be no march for the victims of Saddam
There will be no protests for the death caused by that man
There's no righteous anger as he crushes liberty
But who can make a difference
Who can make a difference
It's me
I didn't come into politics to change the Labour Party
I came into politics to change the world
(He'll do anything, he'll say anything)
If we don't confront these states where mass destruction waits
They will never disappear
They will feed on your fear
(What does he do it for)
(We say make love not war)
(He surely can't ignore the trust he's lost)
We have let our popularity escape us
If it's a question of pride
You promised me the second term I read in the papers
So won't you step aside
(He'll do anything)
I do not seek unpopularity
(Just to get his way)
As a badge of honor
But sometimes that's the price a leader has to pay
Because throughout my whole career
And let me make things crystal clear
My politics come straight from the heart
(How has he let things come to this, what reasons can he show)
My politics come straight from the heart
