Born in Manchester in 1958, and writing his first song at the age of 10, Barry Adamson was known to skip school and wait at home for the postman to deliver the latest Alice Cooper import from America. Home life was coated with the rhythms of motown and jazz, while Roxy Music and David Bowie shaped his teenage years. Recording five albums with Howard Devoto’s Magazine, he moved to London in the ‘80s, working with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds across three albums. Over time he began making a series of sketches and tunes that would become the trace elements of his erotic, paranoid style; densely portrayed in his debut solo album, ‘Moss Side Story’. Several albums later and Adamson is now set to release another, ‘I Will Set You Free’, featuring the song ‘Turnaround’, in 2012. Now free of the shackles of expectation, prepare to take a ride aboard one of the year’s finest releases.
