Description
The mighty rumble of SubDub has been a pillar of UK sound system culture for 14 years and is one of the best reasons to visit the great city of Leeds. But you can save yourself the train fare this month because they're coming to mashup your backyard with a takeover of all three rooms of Cable.
Room one is the Dub and Roots room and is hosted by the foundation of SubDub - The Iration Steppas Sound System. As ever they'll be playing 'dubz inna year 3000 style'. Joining them is the heavyweight sound of The Disciples - a group originally founded in '86 and given their name by the legendary Jah Shaka. Add Dougie Wardrop's Conscious Sounds, and longtime SubDub and Exodus regular - Earthpipe - and you know it's going to be serious.
Room two has the Jamaica Party Tour stopping in to fast forward through the evolution of dub culture taking in dancehall, bashment, dub step, and jungle on the way. Top Cat, one of the true legends of UK toasting, will be performing, as will DMZ founder Coki. The line-up for room two is completed by the party starting bashment of The Heatwave and Rubi Dan, the General Roots band, and the incredible dub-a-dub of Jahtari's Disrupt who will be joined by Solo Banton on the mic.
Room three represents SubDub's all inclusive nature to the fullest with techno, house, and dubstep powered by the Sweet Potato Sound System. Manchester's Synkro heads up a line-up that includes the futuristic dubstep of Kahn and slick techno of David Martin.
There's a reason SubDub has stood the test of time whilst the weak hearts have fallen by the wayside, with a line-up like this that reason should be obvious.
