Saturday 4 October 2008 — Sunday 5 October 2008
Melbourne, (Victoria), Australia
From 3 - 6 October, between Melbourne’s Princes and Swan Street Bridges, our dreams will come to life at Melbourne’s newest free public event, The Dream Festival. Over four days the Yarra River, Birrarung Marr will play host to enormous artwork installations depicting the dreams of Australians.
Never before has Melbourne been treated to an outdoor public art show of the scale of The Dream Festival.
Created by some of Australia’s leading artists, the installations will be positioned both on and around the Yarra River with a purpose-built walkway leading viewers through this forest of art. Each artwork will have its own soundtrack developed exclusively for The Dream Festival by Felix Riebl (The Cat Empire) and Dan Walker (Sydney Composer).
Alongside this unique public art show, you will find two live music stages in the Alexandra Gardens on Saturday and Sunday, featuring a diverse range of individual and group performers. Bands such as Youth Group, The Audreys, the Melbourne Ska Orchestra with Nicky Bomba and Custom Kings are included in the weekend line-up. Activities will culminate with a special celebratory moment, a finale of fun, which will include a music and light show, at 9pm on the Saturday night.
The Dream Festival will be open from 10am – 10pm across all four days and is a free event.
