Everything was awesome, except that I'm not a huge fan of Hessian Peel and nothing from Orchid was played. Both of the closers were goddamn amazing, and Leper Affinity was one of the coolest performances I've seen live.
Firts of all, the HoB IS a very nice venue, very pleased with that. I came for Enslaved but was really hoping to get some excitement out of Opeth. I have to say Enslaved put out a lot more energy and show to their set, one downside being the fact they overlooked earliest albums like Frost, but then they had a set too short for my taste. They were great nonetheless and I had a blast atching them play. On the other hand I only like a few songs by Opeth, the first one they played being one of them. unfortunately they went on to play much softer tunes and the singer took way too long to try to put some energy into his show. The whole band was more static than Enslaved and we had to wait a few songs before they start getting into it. The end picked up well for a good finish, I had a good time. Im kinda sad I missed Gojira in Worcester, wish they had been there as well :P
Great show! Iliked The Lepper Affinity, The Night and The Silent Water and Godhead's Lament the most.
1. Heir Apparent (Watershed)
2. Ghost of Perdition (Ghost Reveries)
3. Godhead's Lament (Still Life)
4. The Lepper Affinity (Blackwater Park)
5. Credence (My Arms, Your Hearse)
6. Hessian Peel (Watershed)
7. Closure (Damnation)
8. The Night and the Silent Water (Morningrise)
9. The Lotus Eater (Watershed)
10. Deliverance (Deliverance)
Both Opeth and Enslaved were AMAZING! Got a nice new Enslaved shirt B) Honestly I liked how they changed their setlist so drastically from last year when I saw them. The sound at the HOB is AMAZINGLY GOOD. My one honest complaint is that Enslaved should have played longer.
"anybody else from out-of-town going? my two friends and I are driving 7 hours from Canada for this...pretty much nothing comes to New Brunswick... "
Well, yeah, but nothing THAT far away, only New Hampshire for me...
Heir Apparent and The Lotus Eater are both regularly on the setlists for the tour. Heir Apparent is almost always the opening song. Data: http://www.setlist.fm/stats/opeth-63d682c3.html?tour=Watershed+Tour
I hope they play Heir Apparent on this tour. That song just screams to me that I need to hear them play it live. I would be happy with The Lotus Eater or Hessian Peel as well. They are bound to play one of those songs. I'll need to hear a heavy setlist after I see a Beatles cover band or I might just soften up a little bit.
I've never been to a show at the HoB Boston. I'm probably gonna go to the Oddity Faire on March 26th, and then hopefully if all goes well Opeth and Enslaved when they come around. Any of you fine people care to fill me in regarding what the place is like inside, how the sound is, what the seating/standing rooms are like?
