Wolves In The Throne Room

Wolves in the Throne Room's have become one of the most potent and highly regarded bands in extreme music. Steering clear of the usual traits of black metal (corpse paint, Satanic imagery and the likes), their peculiar naturalistic take on the genre is an ode to rain storms, wood smoke and the wild energies of the Pacific Northwest forests they call home. Their debut album 'Diadem of 12 Stars' (2006) was immediately hailed as a genre-dissolving classic that created a melancholy and psychedelic cascadian atmosphere. Since then, WitTR has managed to avoid any pitfalls that a public and critical hype tends to bring along for a young band. Along the way, 6 studio albums have carved a stubborn artistic path that constitutes a completely own universe for the band and their fans to share.

Their sixth album 'Thrice Woven' (2017) received high praise from the press and earned the band a much-deserved 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best underground band. Since the release, WitTR has toured relentlessly as a headlining act, as well as joining At The Gates and Behemoth in 2019 for a tour across the United States, Canada and Europe that was met with rave reviews and souls being converted everywhere in their wake.

It will come as no surprise then, that the band's plans for 2020 are anticipated with bated breath. A new album has been in the works for some time now, the first to have the full involvement of long-time touring guitar player Kody Keyworth. As usual with WitTR not much is yet known about what to expect, and key member Aaron Weaver does little to lift any more than a small tip of the veil: 'It feels just like all the other ones… totally different.'
