The Blue Funz (UK/Kanada)
The Blue Funz are an international musical collective made up of Daniel Potter (a lock-keeper on the River Thames), Alexander Borland (a Scottish whelk hunter), and Soren Brothers (a lake scientist from Ontario). Although their roots are in the 1990s on Scotland’s Isle of Iona, where the musicians met, today they are based out of Canada, Scotland, and England, meeting only to play music when the stars align. Named after a colour-shifting spore cloud of puffball origins, the Funz have developed their own mythological universe over the past decades, featuring recurrent folk heroes Mulagi and the Eye. When not singing the virtues of Mulagi, the Funz make music for the Devon Folklore Tapes (Boomkat Records) and Man meets Bear (Heretical Objects Cooperative, Label Fantastic). Their latest album, Songs for Ed Ricketts, was released as part of the Wist Ed. series (featuring artists such as Nadja and Nick Krgovich, of Mount Eerie), and comes with a 24-page zine including the original works of Berlin-based artist, Manfred Naescher. Sharing the stage with the likes of Jeffrey Lewis and Karl Blau, they have toured far-flung regions such as Morocco, Japan, the Balkans, and across North America, to spread their word.
“A beautiful album for the cold days coming that should please those who like Circulatory System, Leafes and Phil Elverum” – With a Messy Head
“A whole lot of truly amazing songs” - Disagreement
“Shamanic unit adventurous domestic debut as The Black Funz” – Guggenheim House, Japan (Google translation)

White West (Berlin)
White West is a band from Berlin.
Three imaginary boys, the new new wave.
Troubled kids, dancing on graves.
Their skin reflects the neon light.
Their hair looks really great at night.
It’s true their hearts are dark and lost.
Black leather jackets, boots and gloves.
So when the last good spirit went and left …
The sun sets in the white white west.
