"Our ears place Basic House in similar territory to Helm and Sewer Election, but always with the feel of a nagging, repetitive beat in the back of his head that’s fighting to materialise acoustically within his music. Others have drawn comparisons to a woozy Andy Stott and Aaron Dilloway, and there’s maybe a pinch of John Wiese in there too. But the sound is definitely Bish, the feeling of a rich and aurally satisfying tapestry that only the more superior end of electronic composition can furnish. Basic House is increasingly in demand all of a sudden, with releases this year on Luke Younger’s Alter and also Digitalis, and with his set-up also becoming gradually more modular, we’re expecting even greater things." The sound of Basic House "is hard to describe: it’s music that comes from a place that was once house or techno but is now none of those things whilst still being both of those things. It still has that pulse and backbone but the sound is much more alien. Like Ekoplekz and Delia Derbyshire meeting Lee Perry to make house music. I hope this doesn’t offend anybody because I mean it in the best possible way: this is new music and new music should look to the past as well as the future.
