"Hey everyone, I'm very sorry to tell you this news. After the Istanbul concert last night, I slipped on a cobblestone and broke my kneecap. Needless to say, I'm extremely disappointed, and very sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. Unfortunately, there's no way around it. If it was only a broken bone, I would have toured in a bloody cast. But the doctor says the knee must be immobile for several weeks after surgery, or it won't heal properly."

Podzimní koncert se přesunul na 5. března 2013.
Autumn's gig in Prague moved to March 5th, 2013.

After years of touring and world-wandering in the wake of 2007’s The Golden Hour, Firewater ringleader Tod A finally touched down in Istanbul, Turkey. „The city is fascinating. It’s a melting pot – a lot like NYC. And with the revolutions going on all around, I knew we should record here.“ New album International Orange! is out on September 11th and brings brand new tour along; Prague’s club Rock Cafe will be proud to host them on tuesday, March 5th.

International Orange!, produced by Tod A and mixed by Tamir Muskat of Balkan Beat Box, carries on from where their previous collaboration, The Golden Hour, took off, slipping across new borders into uncharted territory. Created in Istanbul and Tel Aviv during the 2011 Arab Spring, their latest release captures the frenetic pulse of a world in the state of flux. It continues in the proud Firewater tradition of cultural and stylistic mash-ups. High-energy Turkish percussion drives jagged guitars and horns on eleven anthems of frustration and hope, movement and transformation. The songs tap into grooves as disparate as Turkish maqsoum, Punjabi bhangra, Jamaican ska, Greek rebetiko, classic punk and old-school mambo.

Tod A formed Firewater in NYC in 1995, after the dissolution of his previous group, cult favorites Cop Shoot Cop. Effortlessly mixing elements of klezmer, cabaret, ska, jazz and gypsy, punk and indie rock, Firewater was a true “world punk” innovator, informing many bands that followed, such as Gogol Bordello, DeVotchKa, and Balkan Beat Box.

Předprodej a informace o cenách lístků budou k dispozici brzy.

Tod A žije momentálně v Istanbulu, kde také následovník alba The Golden Hour (2008) vznikal.

Firewater vznikli v létě 1997 z prachu rockových Cop Shoot Cop a do letošního roku vydali šest studiových alb včetne desky coverů Songs We Should Have Written (2004). Todův touring band zahrnuje členy kapel Jesus Lizard, Soul Coughing, Elysian Fields, Gogol Bordello nebo Balkan Beat Box a jejich hudba se dá nejvýstižněji popsat jako „world punk“.
