To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ride's seminal shoegaze masterpiece “Going Blank Again”, Principal Entertainment are proud to present and acoustic evening with Mark Gardener performing classic Ride hits - including tracks from that most incendiary of 90s guitar albums – along with special guests Jae Laffer (The Panics) and Sean Pollard (Split Seconds).
Since parting ways with Ride in 1996, Gardener has released material as a collaborator in a project called The Animal House, which featured ex Ride band mate Loz Colbert, before exploring the acoustic side of his song writing as a live solo artist and then finally releasing his debut solo album These Beautiful Ghosts in 2005. Along with his various EPs and solo albums since, Gardener has worked as an in demand producer, mixer, film soundtrack artist and collaborator with the likes of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins), Dive Index and ex Melbourne psych rockers The Morning After Girls.
Jae Laffer is recognised as one of Australia’s finest songwriters; with his band The Panics he has crafted several albums worth of classic songs that embrace both stark intimacy and unapologetic grandeur.
The Panics ‘Cruel Guards” won an ARIA and Triple J ‘Album of the Year’. In the UK the album received rave reviews and the single “Don’t fight it” enjoyed high rotation across the nation; supported by national sell out UK tour.
Along with Sean Pollard from the Split Seconds, an evening with Mark Gardener and Jae Laffer promises to be an intimate and unique event that won’t soon be repeated and is destined to be talked about for years to come.
