MOTHER introduce live

Vera November is the current project of Verity Susman, known from the cult band Electrelane. Intense interpreter Vera sound like a captain of a ghost ship, suspended in an obscure hermit landscape full of sound waves. At the helm of her visionary attitude, she investigates a mix of tones, lyrical heartaches and heartbreaks that meet with delicate ballads, metaphysical corus, pop  melodies and occasional foray into sanguine instrumental outbreaks in crescendo. Violin, saxophone and accordion reinforce the dreamy flow of her music underway. Her cover of Arthur Russell’s song ‘Our Last Night Together’ is part of the tribute EP by Audika Records.

Alona's work spans across time based installations to even oriented interventions in what can be described as 'performance without performers'. Her work relies on a wide range of media, such as lighting, sound and kinetics, to translate ancient visual expressions of belief in contrast with contemporary environments within the public domain.

Maya Dunietz is a pianist, composer, improviser and singer, born in Israel in 1981. Her work ranges between solo performances, composing for various ensembles around the world, writing for theater, creating sound installations, building strange electronic instruments and singing in various styles, among them heavy metal, kleizmer and contemporary classical music. In the year 2010 her collaborations included arrangements for the new album of "Cheveu", singing with "Oy Division", performing at the Irwin exhibition and playing with Eddie Prevost, John Butcher, Susan Alcorn, Heddy Boubacker and many more. Maya founded the experimental vocal ensemble "Givol Choir" (2003-ongoing) and is currently working with director Ariel Efraim Ashbel on a new joint project to be performed in Germany, 2011.

"MOTHER is a drawing across time and terrain in the form of a DIY festival dedicated to wowmen’s contemporary music and art. It has neither a residence nor an institutional form. It started in 2009 as a three year peripatetic adventure across three different countries, where we involved musicians and artists from all over the world who blur the line between various disciplines. Along the way we marked the dots of an ephemeral triangle, as represented in the festival's logo. The first MOTHER edition, co-curated with Daniel Sarid, took place in Tel Aviv in 2009. The second edition was in London in 2010, together with Nicole Emmenegger (aka DJ Jenny Woolworth), who is also supporting our project at the 2011 Venice Biennale. The last dot of the imaginary triangle will be drawn in September 2011 in Berlin in collaboration with the artist and musician Snjezana-Sonja Cvitkovic." MOTHER is a drawing by Dafne Boggeri and Noga Inbar.
