Melanie Dekker is finishing up a new album this summer and then loading up the gear to embark on an extensive 30 city tour of European concert venues. This time the focus is in Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Czech Republic and the UK.
“I love to travel and I really am living my dream”, exlaims Dekker. “Though it’s not easy, it’s facinating to tour to a different city each night. I love the yellow brick road style adventures and I am thrilled with the laughter and sounds of new fans.”
Dekker’s has had 3 hit singles on Canadian commercial radio. “When I think of you”, “Blue Blanket” and “I said I” which have been in strong rotation in Canada since 2003. Dekker’s music is now breaking on European radio, which has quickly listed rootsy pop-rock Dekker on both commercial & web-radio stations. She has performed with Bryan Adams, Faith Hill, Chaka Khan & Diana Krall & won songwriting competitions in the USA & Canada.
The 2009 fall Europe tour is an intimate, moving & lively show. Dekker is accompanied by internationally recognized bassist David Marion who has been a solid member of her band since 2005. He has also worked with artists such as 2008 Dutch Idols finalist Nathalie Makoma & Third Eye Blind. Also joining her is her long time close friend, Eric Reed, whom she met when they were 6 years old and who has been a big part of most of Dekker’s projects as a co-producer, engineer, guitarist & multi-instrumentalist.
Melanie Dekker’s most recent released recordings include David Kershenbaum for the album “Revealed”, (producer for Tracy Chapman, Joe Jackson, and Duran Duran) & virtuostic guitarist & composer Jason Nett. Only two years following that release, her own self-produced ‘Acoustic Ride’ has been made available (live and through CDBABY) and this seems to be just what her fans were craving.
Enthusiastic Dekker says, “I love to play and connect. I want people to sing, laugh and cry a little if it feels right, as they are taken through the light and dark moments inside the songs. It is my relationships in this world (with my fans and my friends) that keep me writing, singing and performing.”
