Description

We're delighted to bring you one of England's greatest performance poets, musicians and songwriters, JOHN HEGLEY, plus the incredible JESSICA DELFINO from the USA, and DJs, videos and all the other stuff that makes Offline a ruddy great FREE night out!

LIVE ONSTAGE:

JOHN HEGLEY (onstage 10.45)
A favourite of John Peel, the comic, poet, singer, songwriter and legendary glasses-wearer has captivated and devastated audiences all over the country, in theatres, at sell-out gigs at the Edinburgh Festival, and with numerous appearances on radio and television.
The Observer's 'Expert's Expert' feature declared him the top fringe comedian as chosen by his peers, with Time Out describing him as "fabulously funny".
It's an absolute privilege to have him play Offline - don't miss this special performance!
"The funniest poet alive... brilliant" BBC
"One of the funniest men alive" New Statesman
"As a comic poet he's unrivalled" Time Out
"John Hegley is a joy, technically deft and delightfully silly" Daily Telegraph
"John Hegley has been a mainstay of comedy audience for over two decades and with good reason; the man and his poetry are hilarious... This is something special, a true joy to watch." EdinburghReview
"Gloriously offbeat... colourful, often absurd, but ultimately deeply warming" Independent
"A riotous night of glorious nonsense" Independent

From New York's Lower East Side:
JESSICA DELFINO & DIRTY FOLK ROCK (onstage midnight)
Over in the UK to play a string of big festivals and perform a headline run at the Soho Theatre, we're delighted to welcome back the toast of New York's Lower East Side, the outrageous guitar-packing comedian/musician, Jessica Delfino!
"One of the weirdest and best things you'll see this year" Time Out
"A seriously talented comic songwriter... A tough show to top" Metro
"A comedy rock star. . . brilliant" - ComedyCentral.com
"Best Potty-Mouthed, Guitar-Slinging Comedian...The Lower East Side's folkie queen of obscene" The Village Voice, NYC
"Jessica Delfino is a comedian-songwriter who can warble with the earnestness of a folksinger while elucidating the finer points of oral sex." - The Onion
"...smart, socially aware comedy." The Huffington Post
"Witty... as subversive as it gets" Backstage
"hilariously funny" vox.com
"Stellar" NY Times

Special guest appearance with Chicago stand-up:
JENA FRIEDMAN
An Offline debut for this rising comedian who can already count Hollywood legend Robin Williams amongst her fans.
"Williams was apparently a fan of local comedian Jena Friedman's work on Friday night, came back to see her on Saturday, and performed at her weekly Town Hall Pub show Entertaining Julia"
"Friedman's brutally funny and unique view of the absurdity of our world makes her a comic force to be reckoned with" NYtheatre.com
"Deliciously wicked" Time Out NYC

PLUS:

MULTIMEDIA
Original photos, old footage, pop 45 sleeves, and more.

PLUS A SPINNING PLATTER OF DJS!

We'll also have a full crew of hard-drinking Offline regulars throwing down a top selection of tunes, including:

EDITOR (urban75)
An ale-fuelled onslaught of ska, punk, rock'n'roll, big band, rockabilly, Mrs Mills & Liberace in a floor stomping package proving that drinking'n'DJing can be a perilous trade.

LANG & LOPEZ (The Actionettes)
A veritable platter splatter of 50s, 60s, Motown and more vital tunes from the Actionettes' very own Glamour Queens of Vintage Vinyl.

BOBBY BAUHAUS (charcoal soul) More mysterious than Robert Smith's eyeliner bag, Bobby gets dancefloors rocking with quirky, darkside indie-pop and kohl-smudging breakbeats.
