10 Jun 2013, 21:34 de fdunihoThe sidebar in my profile gives a brief synopsis of my taste in music, but it doesn't explain anything in detail. First, I usually listen to music to accompany other activities rather than setting aside periods of time to just listen to music. So, one of the most important factors affecting what I listen to is what I'm doing. I commonly listen to music while writing, reading, working, and exercising. For reading, I like to listen to music that helps me focus. For focusing, I often prefer instrumental music, though music with lyrics is fine as long as my attention isn't drawn to them too much. A steady rhythm, such as found in rock or fusion, often helps me focus, but when I'm already focused and just need to avoid distractions, ambient music can be best. For writing, working, and exercising, I often enjoy something that helps me move. In general, much of the music I listen to has to be good for focusing and moving. Other factors that are important to me are intellectual interest, emotional appeal…

In 2002's, producer Jeff Towne and journalist Peter Manzi from New Age Voice Magazine, have created rating of most significant works in ambient style for all time. For selecting of it, were invited following artists - Steve Roach, Robert Rich, founder of record company Hearts of Space - Stephen Hill. As a result were selected 25 albums. There are like an classical albums of Steve Roach and Brian Eno, as well as usually classified as porgressive rock - Tangerine Dream, electronic music - Aphex Twin, The Orb and even jazz - Miles Davis. Thus, ambient definition has been quite extended.
Full list of experts who took a part in creation of this list:
Stephen Hill, founder of Hearts of Space;
John Diliberto, producer and radio dj of Echoes syndicated radio;
Barbara Taylor, founder and editor in chief of New Age Voice Magazine;
Steve Davis, producer of Hearts of Space;

5 Ene 2013, 1:18 de EglantinetjeI confess: I'm obsessed with music and everything there is to know about it. I won't ever pretend to know everything about it, but I do have an insatiable hunger for music knowledge: from whole musical movements to trivial facts about my favorite bands; I love it all!
On my quest for music knowledge I came across this great three-hour-long documentary:
I want to start of by saying that the title is a bit misleading. You might think this is only the story about Kraftwerk and maybe two or three other bands that were influenced by Kraftwerk. But it isn't! It's a comprehensive look at the German music scene of the late sixties (referred to as the "krautrock" scene).
It starts of by looking at the early Krautrock bands like Amon Düül II, Can, Popol Vuh, Tangerine Dream; followed by a closer look at their influences like Pierre Schaeffer, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Louis and Bebe Barron - who wrote the first entirely…

22 Mar 2010, 21:16 de chintsuThe 25 Most Influential Ambient Albums Of All Time (русск.
(The 25 Most Influential Ambient Albums Of All Time).
