While it does come off as sometimes bland and recycled I think this album is unlucky in that it is surrounded by some awesome 2014 metal/sludge/etc. offerings. Pallbearer, Thou, Eyehategod, Panopticon to name a few.
Yeah a little disappointed. It seems like there were 'just about to get good black metal bits' and 'just about to get good sludge bits' which all led into boring payoffs. I really wanted to hear a post-punk vibe somewhere!
"We are recording soon, no planned shows beyond November 8th. By Temples FEST we might be playing all new songs, the new album might even be out by then." - from band's facebook. I assume we have to wait until early 2014 for the new album. Also now they have their metal archives page, thanks to whoever did that )
I've listened to Path of totality several times and now I can't say I dig it as much as Winter hours. They didn't change their sound and style (and that's good) but the songs just aren't that catchy and intense.
