Forever Rain is a contemporary Indie Rap song by RM describing his struggle with depression and the constant fear of change.
The definition of “mono” means “alone” and “single”. This word is derived from the “monolithic”, meaning “without interesting differences" or “unable to be changed”. And that’s what Forever Rain is about: the sentiment of being an outcast.
The music video is visually in black and white to capture a theme of loneliness. When it rains, most people symbolize it with the weather which accompanies an introspective and dejected state of mind. However, it can also be seen as a cleansing agent that purifies the atmosphere after some disaster.
RM sees the pouring rain as one of his friends, as if the raindrops were always concerned about how he’s feeling. It is possible to notice the deep lyrics consisting of lonesomeness emotions when the first verse is sung. It really expresses how he wishes that the rain could stay pouring forever so that his tears wouldn’t get noticed – as they appear to be when the sun shines.
