Sole and the Skyrider Band go listen to it. its everything you will never be. i dunno what i am saying.

also have been listening to Darc Mind, Restiform Bodies, and a whole whack ton of other random and surprisingly tasty artists.

i should probably try to not post directly after work, my brain is working in half formed sentences and long forgotten urges from a time when we still had tails and lived in trees. hallucinating daily from the spoiled fruit we ate off the ground. its a wonder we have made it as far as we have with such drug addled monkey ancestors.
  • Playlist for Things that Are Square on KUCI 1/10/07 (Word)

    11 Ene 2008, 17:38 de Wormwood37

Yes, ma'am. UCI basketball is back in full swing, and that means the campus college radio station gets dicked around to meet the demands of listeners who will never help us during our fund drives, and our regularly scheduled programs have to get preempted. Don't they know the fate of the world depends on my playing two hour "Mountain Goats Appreciation" shows? Assholes.

At any rate, I used the truncated airtime to do an all hiphop show. Because such is my wont.

And the playlist goes a little sumptin like thiiiiiiiis:

    Things that Are Square 1-10-08

Aesop Rock - One Brick (Ft Illogic) - Labor Days

Edan - Making Planets (Ft Mr. Lif) - Beauty and the Beat
Darc Mind - Outside Looking In - Symptomatic of a Greater Ill
Kid Koala - Fender Bender - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
MC Paul Barman - Bleeding Brain Grow - Paullelujah!

    Blackalicious - Clockwork - A2G
    Diverse - Certified - One A.M.
Brother Ali - Prince Charming - Shadows on the Sun
  • Darc Mind:

    10 Feb 2007, 0:45 de Dimitry_Great

Года “Wu Tang Forever” и “Reunited” Wu Tang’a, “All eyez On Me” 2Pac’a , Delinquent Habits и Mobb Deep “Hell on Earth” и т.д. , года перепалки 2Pac vs. Biggy, т.е. Darc Mind «Symptomatic of a greater ill».
Start it off on an Island a.k.a. Shaoling….
  • 2006's 100 beste albums (groot artikel)

    Hip-Hop is dood
  • Things that are Square 12/7/06 Playlist

    8 Dic 2006, 18:08 de Wormwood37

    Word up playas (and playa-ettes),

I begin this week's playlist in such "gangsta" fashion, as it was an entirely hiphop-based show. Yessir. I played albums over the air that a white dude from Orange County, CA has no business owning. Seriously. BUT! I realized that a lot of my friends, who generally support my taste in music, "don't like" (or don't know) much hiphop. So, I thought I would share some of my favs with them. I hope you, too (if you listened), enjoyed it. If not, listen next week and request more hiphop. I'll play it again. Promise.

    The playlist:

    things that are square 12-7-06

    (*) = New release

    M. Ward – Sad, Sad Song (Joe Beats Remix) – Indie Rock Blues

Mos Def – Hip Hop – Black on Both Sides
A Tribe Called Quest – Check the Rhime – The Low End Theory
Brother Ali – Prince Charming – Shadows on the Sun
Danger Doom – Space Ho’s – The Mouse and the Mask

The Streets – It Was Supposed to Be So Easy – A Grand Don’t Come for Free
Dizzee Rascal – Jus’ a Rascal – Boy in Da Corner
  • This year we'll dance my darling (2006 overview)

    4 Sep 2006, 15:49 de CruelAfflux

I think I heard more records this year than ever. Yes that's partially caused by the fact that I found myself very eager to hear everything that sounded interessting, but I must say I enjoyed it.

The new Joanna Newsom record 'Ys' is beautiful. She could easily become my mother's new favorite artist and have a big commercial breaktrough BUT she didn't. This record is build up in five tracks, but with a 9 minute plus track which is the shortest track on the album you already know it spells trouble for any radio-friendly asperation. Yes it makes me miss the sing-along time I had with the previous record, but floating-on with this concept-art release is even as great, not to say greater. One of my favorite releases (while not even released).

I hear lots of negative things about the new The Mars Volta but I really feel the release, it's beautiful although maybe not as good as De-Loused it will find it's place high up in 2006 releases. Also the new Sonic Youth is a great record, I really enjoy each song on it, it's amazing.
  • Darc Mind - Symptomatic of a Greater Ill

    3 Sep 2006, 14:33 de ColdGlassEye

Recorded from 1995-1997, unreleased until now thanks to the tireless digging of anticon's finest hip-hop archaeologists, Darc Mind's Symptomatic of a Greater Ill slides out of your speakers like a terrifyingly slow and stately torrent of shining black oil.

Paranoid, restless, sticky and dark, this almost-lost classic brings you one of the finest rapping voices that you've never heard: Kevroc, whose delivery rumbles in the lower parts of your brain and bowels, unsettling, brilliant, uncommonly wise. It brings you beats that are sharp and clean and perfectly weighted to carry and cradle Kevroc's unparalleled flow. It brings you fear, paranoia, desperation, vitality, and 11 fucking great songs.

Better 9 years late then never!
