• Summer '09 Mix - JAM.

It's that time again. Time for me to find the perfect conglomeration of songs to help me define a season. Here's what I've been jamming to this summer:

Simian Mobile Disco - Audacity of Huge
I got those Roomba robots that clean the floor
I got that mother of pearl oyster fork for sure
This is pretty much the song I define as my SUMMER JAM. I heard last month via Patrick Wolf, whose sister did the art direction for the fantastic music video below. I absolutely love this song and it has been part of my morning workouts every day.

    Daft Punk - Robot Rock
Amazon had Human After All on sale this month, so I finally decided to delve into listening to Daft Punk music that wasn't just Harder Better Faster Stronger. This CD is pretty fantastic, and I'm looking forward to picking up some more of their albums in the future. (I know, way to TOTALLY GET ON THE BOAT 10 YEARS OR SO TOO LATE, but hey.)

The Dead Weather - Treat Me Like Your Mother
Come on look me in the eye
You wanna try to tell a lie
I’ll bet you can’t and you know why?
    I’m just like your mother
I have kind of an in-the-closet love for Jack White, I think he helps create some absolutely fabulous modern blues rock. His newest side project The Dead Weather is no exception, and Alison Mosshart's voice is absolutely divine on this track. Everything about this is in your face (although a tad bit repetitive) and as soundtracked quite a few of my coding sessions.

A za "mirne Francuze koji ne plešu" je rekao: "We'll see about that!"... U totalnom Pulp Fiction Mr. Wolf stilu. Naravno, on je bio u pravu :)

I love all kinds of music, so my year-end list is unlike many of the favorites and best of 2007 lists I've seen published on the internet and in print. It seems many people today are listening to only one genre of music. I feel sorry for them.

You will not find albums by Animal Collective and Panda Bear (I didn't like either one) -- or any other animal-named band, for that matter -- on my list, nor will you find that my albums can be classified in one easy genre. I don't care about being hip, so all my album choices are based on honest opinions. I do not repeat or let myself be influenced by what others say about music. My opinions are my own.

    20. Mind Control - Stephen Marley
Among the Marley children, Stephen Marley is the one who sounds most like his famous father. Alt reggae.
Stand-out track: The Traffic Jam (Featuring Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley)
