With that being said, I discovered my favorite metal band - Acid Bath - around the 2003. They had disbanded in 1997. Grr. However, their mix of metal, doom, blues and folk is timeless. While undeniably heavy (Cheap Vodka, Tranquilized), they combine their sludge with melody (Venus Blue, Bleed Me an Ocean), at times even involving acoustic guitars and atmospheric vocals (New Death Sensation, Dead Girl).
And of course, I cannot go without mentioning the wonderfully epic song Cassie Eats Cockroaches... thankfully not written about me, but nonetheless vulgar and worth a listen ;)
