In the early 00's my grandma, who didn't speak English at all, heard me playing "The Road to Mandalay", and she, quite rarely so, expressed genuine interest in him, asked me about him, learned his name. I showed her his videography, and, while she didn't comment much, I felt she was interested. It was, like, one of the very few things that connected us by that time. She died October 8, 2010, the same day Robbie released "In and Out of Consciousness", which was fucking insane, to be honest. And then he rejoined Take That for one album, and it was glorious. When I listen to Robbie Williams, I think of her. Not all the time. But she comes over to visit. So I'm forever thankful to him for helping me make this weird and beautiful connection with her. Love you, Robbie.
