Who I'm with and what I'm working towards
You never seemed so proud
But I woke from this deception

For the child you never thought would end up
Broken down like me
But it's not like I was sixteen
When I pound my head on concrete
You never paid attention to see the heights I fall from
I'd woken up and you had
Gone to church alone and you asked
How could I ever change?
How could I have faith in god if
Faith in you was never worth it?
If you looked you might see
That this pain was self-inflicted
'Cause a god made me conflicted
About the child you never thought would end up
Broken down like me
But it's not like I was nineteen
When I tore my skin 'till it bleed
You never paid attention to see the heights I fall from
John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that
He gave his one and only son that whoever believes
In Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life"
And while some may find comfort in this
I find it rather disturbing
How could a god watch his son die in front of millions?
How could a father watch his son be ridiculed on his deathbed?
And if my father were to do that to me
Would that be any family of mine?
