I stopped being dumb and hating on stoner so I gave their latest album another chance and I gotta say I like it, the 2014 EP is good too. there may be clean vocals now and the songs are shorter but they're still every bit as heavy.
well I don't know what the heck "doom" or "occult" are supposed to qualify, considering that all metal sounds the same anyways. i'll give these guys a shot though, ironically, i mean. *pulls up the Pandora radio app on my macbook air* a ten minute song? are you joking me? what is this, one of those deals where it's the last song on the album and then after five minutes of silence a secret message plays? what a joke, I don't have time for this. *tightens keffiyeh and rides off into the night on my fixed-gear bicycle, towards my favourite vegan pastry shop*
hey man if u don't like it thats fine too. Theres nothing wrong with put my reasons to like it as there is with putting your reasons to not like it. I think this the reason this whole section is on here! And no I am not Moss, but they are my favourite, I liked them since the beginning and it's interesting cos the band changed as I like them to change through the years as my own taste has grown or evolved. I understand not everyone has the same experience, but this is why we are here and why this is here, to share and discuss and argue.
Horrible Night is awesome, sure, it's on one heavy Sabbath trip but it still sounds unmistakeably like Moss, just trying out something different. And since when has Sabbath worship ever been a bad thing?
Vapourman, I bought the MP3's so don't insinuate I didn't at least try to support the band as I have to be really selective with the physical copies I buy. I have my LP green/black splatter copy of Sub Templum too and I'd rather wait for another record I like as much as that one to buy. Also, isn't it funny the only page for the past half a year plus you've shouted on, or made edits to is the Moss page...? I don't think this is the first time I've seen highly suspicious accounts on music-based social networking sites with unusually aggressive individuals defending the new Moss and insulting those who disagree. Curious.
some of u neeed reality check with ur music taste - if u think a 2 note riff repeating over and over for 20 minutes is "more innovative, more unique" then please fuckin wake up. Moss admit in an interview they were lazy with old material. Horrible Night sound like album band always finally wanted to make. This not an album for u fuckin boring Sunn drone fans.
I don't know that there's anything wrong with the new album as much as there's not enough right with it. On their older material they sounded more innovative, more unique. This album sounds like a throw back to black sabbath worship. It's the kind of album I'd expect from a band still struggling with their influences.
i can understand both liking the new album and being disappointed with it. it's definitely a departure. personally i like it. it is Moss going a bit more into the trad way of doom due to the vocals but the huge heavy factor is still there.
I never considered them drone doom, I know the band themselves never did either and I think they hate drone doom..too much movement and structure to Moss to be even thought of as that.
That said, i don't think musically the new album is all that different, it just has the clean voice now and better riffs is all.
I think the Horrible Nights cd is a great great album. Great doom metal!
