This one was a bit of a letdown to me after the terrific (A) Senile Animal, but it's grown on me since. The Melvins have always been indebted to 70s rock, but here the influence is the most obvious its ever been.
This was in constant rotation the summer it came out. Working on boat docks, jamming it in the van from spot to spot, smoking blunts, drinking beers. Had this amazing summer feel to it. Miss those days. Nude with Boots is nostalgic.
At first I was hesitant about this album, but once I got into (A)SA, I was much more able to appreciate the sheer brilliance of NWB. I love the mix of the catchy first few songs with the filthiness of The Savage Hippy.
Oh, so there actually was promotion about this album? Adblock must've made me miss all that. Bought the album, being faithful to Ipecac as I am, sounds very polished and accessible but still very Melvins-ish. I like it. The chihuahua as well. :D
