You like Judas Priest?
Their early work was a little too Hard Rock for my taste.
But when Defenders Of The Faith came out in '84, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.
The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost.
They've been compared to Iron Maiden, but I think Halford has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
In '90, they released this; Painkiller, their most accomplished album.
I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Painkiller". A song with a drum solo so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics.
But they should, because it's not just about a Metal Monster breathing smoke and fire, it's also a personal statement about how to overcome suicidal tendencies.
I don't understand why Mother Sun was never EVER released as bonus track or sung after 1975.
Even the band Portrait (they inspire themselves on Mercyful Fate) covered this song and I never heard of it before the cover.
It's a 8 minute song.
