Tape-Echo fire up their special projects tape label once more and welcome the unknown but much in demand DJ Persuasion to the reels. Previously spotted on the T-E blog with the stellar ’95-96’ mix, he/she/they plunder the racks for ‘Dedicated To The Dedicated 94-95’. An hour long masterclass in jungle, professionally dubbed onto high quality tape and clad in a metallic lined shell. There’s no track listing, or audio, of course, but you can rest assured this mix is jam packed with rarities and, much to our surprise and, well, slight embarrassment, a gang of cuts we’d never heard before! If you know the era you’ll have an idea of what’s in store – intricately chopped breaks, time stretched vocals and the all important subs.
Make no mistake, this is as real as it gets – deep selections from DJ Persuasion, woven together in one take on two decks and a mixer – We thought we were D&B crate diggers until we heard this one – then we got sent back to school! Class is in session, DJ Persuasion at the controls – if you’ve even a passing interest in the evolution of Jungle/D&B we’d highly recommend spending some time with this tape.
