Hydroponic Garden and World of Sleepers are utterly timeless perfection, they used to utterly dominate my night listening and any time I revisit I'm reminded why. Have they ever elaborated on the sources for the plethora of samples used across those first two albums? Photosynthesis is the famous one obviously, but Hydroponic Garden from the album of the same name and MOS 6581 also have peculiar sampling. "The jockey... the racecourse.." And Comsat I always like to imagine is sampling NASA broadcasts I'm an original master purist too, the 2015 remakes are flat.

Regardless these two legends got me hooked on Ambient music (which I thought I would never get into :) Every album is unique and makes me appreciate nature and life :)

Love the new album. Its not perfect, but it has the good old CBL vibe and magnificent moments.

Best CBL release since ages, sounds like a visualization to a great story of humans in space. There is also something new in their music and that is the guitar.

New album feels a touch underwhelming for me. I'm hoping it will be a gentle grower after more listens. But Bloom is absolutely one of the best things they've ever done. Could listen on repeat. Only wish Parts 1 and 2 flowed into each other a little more and the whole thing was much longer. (Hoping for a 20 Minutes style extended release.) Sync2n and Fauna are also great. No complaints from me though. These guys have set the bar so incredibly high over the years and Stochastic was such a pleasantly unexpected (and near perfect) surprise.

nice work done on Seeker. the best is the ending part of album once the nice and chilly ambience comes up. many come backs to this LP guaranteed

Not a bad new album but a little generic for CBL standards. A lot of it sounds like I've already heard on previous albums, note for note. I wish they released a voiceless Rymden3000. The version played live last year is much better.

I think it's too organic for my taste... I prefer the more experimental & acid side of CBL. The track "Seeker" is great but the rest not so much. "Rymden3000" is terrible, the idea is good and the melody is beautiful but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. It sounds like they tried to copy Solar Fields' recent post-rock infused epic tracks but failed miserably. The vocals are terrible.

Only someone that has no clue what post-rock is would think Until We Meet The Sky is post-rock, lol

You can add Magnus to that list then, because the man himself has said that post rock acts like Bitcrush were a big influence to that album. Perhaps only someone with bad interpretation skills would not know what the words "infused", "inspired" and "influenced" mean.

Hydro-WoS-Interloper is the perfect streak. Everything else pales in comparison,

Yes it's hard to find CBL fans that grasp the beauty of their music wholly. CBL's music is layered in a very atypical and sort of unconventional way, unlike MOST other artists of their kind (emphasis on most), and that makes them much more unique but at the same time a bit less accessible for people who are just looking for music that's easy to absorb. That said, I'm a massive CBL fan.

CBL have been an integral part of my life from my early teenage years. Their music exists in such a unique space - their morphing atmospheric ambience speaks to me in such a unique way, it's rare to find people that truly feel CBL's work in the world, sure, but I'd say a lot of their fans here are in that category 👌

For me, M is the most magnificent song they ever produced. I began to listen to CBL when a friend in high school showed me that song, and I think that is when I started to listen to electronic music in general. Great song.

Stochastic is wonderful, after dissapointing derelicts to me, this is beautiful comeback from the CBL, reminds me on the days of Twentythree, wonderful atmospheric ambient, for deep thinking and relaxing at the same time.

Tough choice! Interloper is probably my favorite, although World of Sleepers and Derelicts are both really good as well. You?

hehe yes, I know this is a hard question. I must say Derelicts so many beautiful Memories are chained to the oceanic or deep-inside-the-woods sound. Also it is the first Album of them I heard. But I also like the others too. I will hear in Interloper once more now :)

FYI before you upvote the old album covers note that all CBL albums have been re-released with new album covers which are also on streaming platforms. Btw they look much better.

Superior why? Just because they were first, original so to speak? Imo they look awful but hey, that's just my opinion.

This is true. I always keep the original masters around, I guess I'm a purist in that way. Even the really generic covers of the remasters irritate me, they're so low effort and don't give any representation of the themes on each record compared to the originals. Years on and Derelicts still doesn't really click either. Hydroponic to Interloper have always been the big three to me, particularly Hydroponic and World of Sleepers , utterly timeless.

Completely agree. The continuing track numbers kind of reflect that the first three albums are supposed to be like a trilogy. It runs from track 1 to track 33 and honestly sounds like a journey from Earth to space and back to Earth. I still love TwentyThree and Derelicts but the first three will always hold a special place in my ears.

I actually like the remasters too, can't really comment on the original one's since I haven't heard them in a long time but they're floating around out there somewhere. My all time favorite album will always be World Of Sleepers though. It was the first I heard and it was the most relaxing one to listen to for me still.

The new album covers tickle my OCD. I don't want to see them in my library when scrobble the original albums. Do something about it Last.fm. Oh, who am I kidding. Sigh.
